Regulation of Social Media Platforms and the Marco Civil da Internet
The “Ponto a Ponto” series is available free of charge and features two leading personalities in their fields discussing their ideas for solving contemporary challenges.

In the fourth episode of the series, Renata Mielli and Paulo Rená discuss the regulation of social media platforms. They also discuss the context of drafting the Marco Civil da Internet and how to mitigate current problems.
Renata Mielli says: ‘This model of responsibility, whereby the neutral intermediary provider is only held responsible for third-party content after receiving a court order, has lost some of its meaning for social media platforms because they are no longer just neutral intermediaries.’
Paulo Rená: ‘If the platform is involved in the paid promotion of content, it can be required to take on an editorial role and assess whether that content is suitable for promotion.’
