Mission

A not-for-profit, nonpartisan organization, the Fundação FHC was created by Fernando Henrique Cardoso upon leaving the Presidency of the Republic

The purpose of the foundation is twofold: foster public debate and the production and dissemination of knowledge about the challenges of development and democracy in Brazil, in its relations with the world. Besides that, it preserves and makes available to the public the archives of Ruth and Fernando Henrique Cardoso and other public figures linked to the couple, in order to contribute to the research and dissemination of knowledge about Brazilian history. 

To achieve its objectives, the foundation organizes exhibitions, educational events, cross-disciplinary debates, studies and publications.

In its actions, the Fundação FHC is guided by the following values:

- Respect for pluralism of opinion

- Belief in the qualified debate of ideas

- Adherence to democracy
