Samira Bueno says: ‘Generations of children and adolescents are growing up in territories controlled by organised crime and seeing the trafficker as a leader and something to aspire to.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leandro Piquet: ‘Latin America is notorious for its low capacity for punishment. The authoritarian right is growing because it finds fertile ground among those who deny the progressive agenda.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Samira Bueno \u2014<\/strong> social scientist who holds a Master’s and a Doctorate in Public Administration from FGV-EAESP. She is the Executive Director of the F\u00f3rum Brasileiro de Seguran\u00e7a P\u00fablica<\/span>, coordinating the Anu\u00e1rio Brasileiro de Seguran\u00e7a P\u00fablica<\/span>and the Atlas da Viol\u00eancia<\/span>. Samira is also a professor on IDP’s Professional Master’s Degree in Public and Government Policies, and sits on the National Public Security Council and the S\u00e3o Paulo State Lethality Commission.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Leandro Piquet \u2014<\/strong> economist who holds a Master’s and a Doctorate in Political Science from IUPERJ. He is a professor at the Instituto de Rela\u00e7\u00f5es Internacionais at the Universidade de S\u00e3o Paulo (USP) and coordinator of the Escola de Seguran\u00e7a Multidimensional at USP. He has been a member of the Rio de Janeiro City Council and the Management Councils of both the S\u00e3o Paulo State Public Security Secretariat and the S\u00e3o Paulo Municipal Public Security Council.
